Tummy Troubles in Pets: What You Need to Know
It often starts with something small — your dog skips a meal or your cat seems unusually quiet. Then comes the vomiting or diarrhea, and suddenly your once-lively pet just isn’t themselves anymore.
At ABVC, we see many pets with upset stomachs, and while it’s common, it’s never something to ignore. GI infections can be triggered by spoiled food, dirty water, parasites, or even a sudden diet change. Sometimes, stress or an underlying condition is to blame.
What’s important to know is how fast things can change. A mild symptom in the morning can turn serious by evening — especially in young, older, or already ill pets. If vomiting or diarrhea lasts more than 24 hours, or if your pet seems weak or has blood in their stool, it’s time to call us.
We’re here to help you figure out what’s wrong and get your pet feeling better again. Clean water, gradual food transitions, and keeping trash out of reach are good preventative steps, but when tummy troubles strike, don’t wait.
